Remove redundancies in your Report   


One of the most common questions we get is how to make Report Writing faster. One of the easiest ways is to reduce unnecessary narrative from your report. You can also leverage photos to reduce the text! Here are some examples in the article below. The examples below are from real reports. Red text indicate the comments that are repeated.

 

1) LANDSCAPING \ General

Condition: Trees or shrubs too close to building

Some of the pine trees [Component] around the home are touching the roof [Condition] and should be trimmed back. [Task]

Implication(s): Material deterioration | Chance of pests entering building | Chance of water damage to contents, finishes and/or structure

Task: Trim


2) WALLS \ Trim Condition: Rot

MAJOR CONCERN: There are many areas of the exterior trim, soffits, and fascia that are rotting extensively. Recommend repair or replace by a licensed contractor. (This part is redundant, already stated in bullet point.)

Implication(s): Chance of water damage to contents, finishes and/or structure | Material deterioration

Location: Throughout Exterior 

Task: Repair or Replace by a Licensed/Certified Contractor


3) WALLS \ Soffits and fascia

Condition: Damage

Soffit and fascia have damaged portions in various locations. (This can be removed as it is already stated above and below in the Location section)

Implication(s): Chance of water damage to contents, finishes and/or structure

Location: Various Exterior

Task: Repair or replace

Time: Less than 1 year



4) DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM \ Lights

Condition:
Missing

Some exterior lights are missing and require replacement and or repair (This can be removed as it is already stated above and below)

Implication(s): Inadequate lighting
